Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – TEASER

OK, kids, its finally happening…

Now, don’t get me wrong, I hope this is just as good as the rest of the MCU has been until now.

BUT.

Much like the girl on the bus, I’m sure most of us are like, “Who are you?”

Marvel’s got their work cut out for them in the months and years ahead. They’ve bet the works that the next phase of the MCU will just “work” as well as it has until now. But here’s the problem. Nobody knows who the actual @#$^ these superheroes are.

Spider Man? Iron Man? Thor? Hulk? Bruce Banner? Yeah cool… even names like Dr. Strange and War Machine we’ve probably heard tossed around before. We know these names, Tony Stark? Oh yeah I’ve heard that name before. Don’t even get me started on the X-men angle here….

I’m not a “comic book guy” in the slightest. I’m not. I have no earthly clue who this Shang-Chi guy is, or how this fits into the bigger picture at all. So Marvel, you’ve got some work to do, making me interested in these n-tier characters going forward. You’re gonna have to not only make these connections as it relates to the MCU from this point on…

…but you’re gonna have to make some sort of connection to what’s happened already to make me care.

“Oh hey its another MCU movie now give me money” isn’t going to cut it.

So this drops in early September (fingers crossed)… Black Widow in July, Loki in May, and I’m assuming The Eternals is still on for November…

… but we’ll see I guess. What do you think? There’s a comment space below, sound off!

PS… And yeah, I get that nobody knew who the Guardians of the Galaxy were until the movie. BUT Marvel managed to make a funny, engaging movie that didn’t take itself seriously, AND tie it into the big picture by using GotG to introduce Thanos into the MCU. All I’m saying is its going to take a similar leap to get me to care about guys like Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, etc. I have no doubt all this will tie into the Eternals, but it still feels really nebulous at this point, and doesn’t have the foundation that the Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America films created for the MCU…
